A trade name for compressed pale blue anhydrite, used as a stone of angelic communication and gentle peace.

Angelite is anhydrite, anhydrous calcium sulphate, in its pale blue compressed form, mainly from Peru. It is the same mineral family as gypsum but without water. Mohs hardness is around 3.5, soft enough to scratch with a fingernail edge. Anhydrite slowly absorbs water and converts to gypsum, which is one reason angelite must be kept dry. The trade name angelite emerged in the 1980s and the stone has been adopted as the modern stone of angelic and spirit guide communication. It is gentler than lapis or labradorite, more about quiet peace than dramatic vision.
