Court Cards — Definition

Court cards usually represent people, personalities, or modes of behaviour rather than events. Pages are learners and messengers, Knights are doers and seekers, Queens hold and nurture mastery, Kings command and direct it. They can describe the querent, someone in their life, or an attitude they are being asked to embody. Many readers find courts the trickiest part of the deck precisely because their meaning depends so much on context.
