Numerology treats numbers as a language for describing personality, timing, and pattern. The two main modern systems are Pythagorean and Chaldean, both of which convert letters and dates into numbers and read the results. Numerology is not arithmetic in the predictive sense; it is a symbolic frame, similar in spirit to astrology, that gives a person a vocabulary for their own tendencies. Most practitioners combine multiple core numbers — life path, expression, soul urge — rather than relying on a single one.
