Significator — Definition

A significator anchors the reading. Some readers pick it deliberately based on the querent's sun sign, age, or temperament; others draw it at random from the deck before laying the spread. The significator gives the rest of the cards something to be in relation to — it answers "who is this about?" before the spread answers "what is happening?" Many modern readers skip it, treating the question itself as anchor.
