Transit — Definition

A transit happens when a planet in the sky right now forms a meaningful angle to a planet, point, or house cusp in the natal chart. Transits are how astrologers describe timing — the slow Saturn transit that builds discipline, the Jupiter transit that opens an opportunity, the Mars transit that pushes someone to act. Outer-planet transits (Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto) tend to mark life chapters; inner-planet transits flavour the day or week.

Example

When Saturn transits a person's natal Moon, it often shows up as a sober, slow reckoning with old emotional patterns.
