Upright is the default orientation for a tarot card and corresponds to its primary, most direct meaning. Readers who use reversals contrast upright with reversed; readers who do not still notice orientation when imagery cues it. The upright meaning is the one printed in most guidebooks and is the cleanest expression of the card's archetype.
