Shadow Work Tarot Spread

Positions

  1. 1. The shadow you are carrying — The disowned trait, emotion, or part of yourself currently active beneath your awareness. Often the trait you most criticize in others.
  2. 2. The mask you wear over it — The persona, behavior, or compensation you use to hide the shadow — including from yourself. Naming the mask softens it.
  3. 3. When the shadow formed — The era, event, or relationship in which this part was first exiled. Not necessarily a single moment — sometimes a long-running condition.
  4. 4. What the shadow is trying to protect — The deeper love, dignity, or safety that the shadow originally formed to defend. Usually moving once you see it.
  5. 5. The path of integration — The first concrete step of welcoming this part back — often small, embodied, and unglamorous. The work of years, started today.
